One of the protest groups that will be in the Twin Cities for the Republican National Convention, ANSWER, has a colorful history. Though they claim to want to protest the convention peacefully (and indeed, that may be the case), according to Laissez-Faire and Times Watch, ANSWER:

- Lead rallies in support of Saddam Hussein and his Baathist torture-state in 2003

-Supported the butchers of Beijing after the slaughter of Tiananmen Square

-Supports the last official Stalinist state, North Korea, in the mass starvation of its citizens

-Supported Slobodan Milosevic after the massacre at Srebrenica

-Supports the mullahs of Iran, the narco-gangsters of Colombia and the bus-bombers of Hamas.

So much for being a peaceful protest group. While this information doesn't necessarily mean the folks from this group who will be protesting the convention support these activities or will carry anything like this out, but associations are important and telling.
