Matt Burns, the spokesman for the Committee on Arrangements had some interesting comments yesterday about their blogger outreach, especially as it compares to the Democratic National Conventions's:

"We're doing a lot to hold a tech-savvy convention in general (i.e., we have Google as our official innovation provider, among other things).  And while larger (Washington Post, etc.) and many smaller independent bloggers will have ample access to the convention venue, we're also doing something the Dems have yet to match.  We're making arrangements to engage bloggers from across the country who are unable to attend our convention."

Official release here.

This is even more interesting in light of the fact that, while the RNC is making their convention as green as possible, they don't tout it as much as the DNC does. That's their platform after all. So what do they have to say about bloggers from all over the country driving or flying to Colorado to cover their event? If they really wanted to save the earth with green-friendly practices, perhaps they'd provide a way for bloggers to cover the event, from their living room. That's pretty green.
