Looks like some people aren't too happy about moving bar hours from 2 am to 4 am during the days surrounding the convention--including the St. Paul City Council who voted yesterday, in opposition (4-3) not to keep the bars open that late.
From the Pioneer Press:
The council cited police costs and the potential for added neighborhood problems if bars were allowed to stay open later during the convention. Bars are currently required to close at 1 a.m., with some allowed to stay open to 2 a.m. under a special license.
"This is not Las Vegas. This is the city of St. Paul," said Councilmember Lee Helgen, who sponsored the resolution, which directs the city's lobbyist to oppose the plan.
Really? Not Las Vegas? You gotta be kidding me.
