I know this is the third post on the passing of William F. Buckley, but a mere three post is nothing when compared to the conservative giant that Buckley was. The Chicago Tribune has a great piece about Buckley today, and this paragraph stands out:
"That is what Christopher Buckley told President Bush when the latter called Wednesday morning to express his condolences. "I said, 'Mr. President, you're a Texan, and you'll understand this -- he died with his boots on.'" Later in the day, a call came from Nancy Reagan, Christopher Buckley said. Then he called former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to tell him the news. "He wept.""
The last line is incredible, imagine the type of man Buckley must have been to bring America’s most storied diplomat to tears.
